About Us - Company Overview

C & R was established in 1986 operating as Barclays Advisory and Registrars Services (BARS) as an in house department of Barclays Bank of Kenya (BBK) to process share register services for the bank. The business was incorporated in 1991 and it started providing share register services to external clients. BARS was then 100% owned by BBK. BARS grew over the years to become the largest provider of share registrars services in Kenya, accounting for over 50% of the business on the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Following a business review, BBK resolved to dispose of some non-core businesses, and this led to the disposal of BARS to the current shareholders of the company. The company was taken over as a going concern and was renamed to the present day Custody and Registrar Services Limited (C&R).

C&R seeks to develop long-term client relationships based on Trust, Delivery and Service Excellence. We believe in listening to our clients in order to attain an appreciation of their specific business and transactional needs so as to provide them with the most appropriate skills and services.
